How to obtain a guaranteed fragment during the seasonal event
Opened hundreds of event boxes and still no special artifact fragment? Here’s how to get one for sure.
Special artifacts are one of the most powerful items in Get a Little Gold. Not only do they increase different stats, like critical chance or damage per second, but they also indirectly boost your gold per second and gold per click through the Gobseck upgrade. That’s why it’s incredibly important to get more and more special artifact levels whenever you can!
If you prefer video format, you can watch this video guide where I explain exactly how to get your guaranteed special artifact fragment:
How can you get special artifacts?
Special artifacts are extremely rare. You can’t get them as a drop from challenges or game modes. The only way to get one is to craft it. And the key crafting ingredient, a special artifact fragment, comes from just one place: a prize from a seasonal event.
As you’d expect, fragments are rare too. The chance of getting one from an event box is only one percent. That’s usually not a problem, because active players can open several hundred boxes. But sometimes luck just isn’t on your side.
Guaranteed special artifact fragment
Fortunately, there’s a way to get one special artifact fragment with a 100% chance, no luck required. It’s available to mid-game players who have already activated at least a couple of times and have enough red shards to go through a full activation in a reasonable amount of time.
You can get the guaranteed special artifact fragment from the Carnival. During the seasonal event, open the event menu and click the Carnival tab. Scroll down, and you’ll see that opening 300 boxes gets you a special artifact fragment, along with many other prizes.
How to reach 300 opened event boxes?
During the event, you can buy boxes with event badges. The price goes up the more boxes you buy. You can buy 100 boxes for 50 badges each, and another 200 boxes for 70 badges each. So to reach 300 boxes, you’ll need at least 19,000 event badges.
19,000 event badges
The active stage of the event lasts 14 days. During the active stage, you can get badges from two sources:
- Falling crates
- Chest challenges
Calculations I’m using in this guide assume you’re playing Get a Little Gold completely for free and don’t have Heavenly Light (premium feature). With Heavenly Light, you can get badges more easily, but even without it, reaching 19,000 badges is absolutely possible with the following strategy.
Falling crates
A falling crate appears on screen once every couple of minutes and falls until you either catch it or miss it. Usually, it gives you only one of three temporary power-ups, but during the event it also gives you an event badge. So the more falling crates you catch, the more event badges you get.
To maximize your farming capacity and get as many event badges from falling crates as you can, you should max out two upgrades:
- Frequent bonuses global upgrade
- Treasure hunter hero skill
The Frequent Bonuses global upgrade decreases the spawn cooldown of falling crates, so you can catch way more of them during the event. Initially, falling crates spawn randomly once every 5 - 10 minutes. With Frequent Bonuses maxed out, this time drops to 1:40 - 3:20 minutes. At this spawn rate, you can expect around 550 badges from falling crates per day.
The Treasure Hunter hero skill automates catching crates. You won’t be sitting there 24/7 waiting for the next crate to appear. A maxed Treasure Hunter makes sure you don’t miss a single one, even when you’re offline. It works even if you close the game and shut down your mobile device. Just remember to stay inside a challenge (for instance, endless mode or golem challenge) rather than in the main menu when you go offline.
550 badges per day for 14 days adds up to 7,700 badges.
Chest challenges
The second source of badges during the seasonal event in Get a Little Gold is chest challenges. Currently, there are 7 tiers of chest challenges, and every one can be played up to 3 times a day. Every chest challenge you beat drops a fixed amount of event badges, depending on the tier:
- Shabby chest - 5 badges
- Rusty chest - 10 badges
- Old chest - 15 badges
- Exotic chest - 25 badges
- Ancient chest - 35 badges
- Rare chest - 50 badges
- Flawless chest - 65 badges
So if you beat all 7 tiers 3 times a day, you’ll get exactly 615 badges per day. The limit resets every day.
Over the 14 days of the event’s active stage, chest challenges will net you 8,610 badges.
Activation trick
7,700 badges from falling crates plus 8,610 badges from chest challenges is only 16,310 badges. So where do you get the remaining 2,690 badges to reach 19,000?
Luckily, there’s a trick in the game that lets you replay chest challenges twice a day, or even more. Turns out, when you do an activation, meaning you reset your progress to get red shards, you also reset the chest challenges. So you can redo them the same day and get another 615 badges.
The only downside is that activation also resets your achievements, medals, amulets, global upgrades, and so on. So depending on your stage in the game, your hero skills, and your red shards, it’ll likely take somewhere from half an hour to a couple of hours to rebuild your progress and clear all the chests again.
Technically, you can do an activation once every 6 hours and replay your chest challenges over and over, getting more and more badges. But to reach 19,000 badges and get the guaranteed special artifact fragment, you only need 5 extra activations over the 14 days of the event’s active stage.
Let’s check the math. 5 extra activations times 615 badges is 3,075 badges. Add the 16,310 badges you already get from falling crates and chest challenges, and that brings you to 19,385 badges. That’s even a little more than you need.
I hope this guide was useful! Make sure to check the Events Calendar so you don’t miss the next seasonal event in Get a Little Gold.
Good luck!
